Aryballos-lekythos

Ceramic clay. Red-figure squat aryballos-shaped lekythos with a narrow neck, widening conical lip, and strap handle. The body sits on a torus-shaped foot. The central decoration on the front is of a flying sphinx executed in red-figure. Lying on a mat in right profile, the sphinx has its wings raised and its left leg and tail curved into an S-shape. Sketch-like painting.
